The Operational Project Manager (OPM) is an individual contributor role supporting the Document Workflow and Operations (DWO) division in CSWO – Global Technology and Operations (GT&O) line of business. The role will be focused on high impact cross functional initiatives (technology and process only) that deliver business outcomes on medium to large scale projects. This includes coordinating the efforts across Line of Business groups, technology teams and other external partners in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate across multiple areas (business, operations, technology, key partners) to drive critical change initiatives
  • Define and document project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path; plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools
  • Assess the adoption of risk associated with the change effort
  • Communicate risk and rewards associated with decisions and actions to stakeholder in business oriented terms
  • Ensure all controls are in place to sustain risk mitigation
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to project team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear manner
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
  • Work independently, using process excellence expertise, proven demonstration of strategic thinking and tactical planning to turn complex ideas into well-structured processes

Job Description Summary:

Manages medium-large projects for an operations segment, product line or function. Manages the research of existing operations, procedures, workflow, product and service requirements. Directs the analysis of assembled data to define problems associated with project scope. Directs project parameters, cost and resource estimates. Works closely with operations management on project impact and direction. May approve bid packages from outside vendors and contractors. Has direct management responsibility for a small project team. Requires an in-depth knowledge of the bank and overall operations environment.

Required Skills:

  • 3 or more years project management experience, responsible for end-to-end management and delivery of a material change for a project of medium to high complexity across multiple departments
  • Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects at various stages of the project life cycle
  • Problem solving and communications skills, including significant experience facilitating communication among Line of Business stakeholders, Risk, Business Controls, Technology, etc.
  • Ability to navigate enterprise, research and resource information across the bank
  • Ability to manage in a high volume, fast paced changing environment with good time management skills and the ability to manage teams
  • Excellent proficiency using Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and in Visio
  • Demonstrated PowerPoint presentation skills and ability to target messaging to different audiences
  • Excellent decision making skills with an assertive and proactive communication style
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to handle multiple tasks to meet extremely compressed deadlines
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, determined and positive – especially under pressure

Desired Skills:

  • Strong working knowledge, experience and familiarity with Enterprise Change Management standards
  • Experience managing large, finance-impacting program implementations; broad business, financial and technical background
  • Experience managing across varied finance, business, and IT stakeholder groups and maintaining key relationships
  • Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to operate independently and remain focused through change or uncertainty
  • Budgeting, cost control, and risk management experience
  • Project Management Professional Certified preferred
  • Agile methodology experience, PMI or Six Sigma certification a plus
